Monica Still Standing Album Review – The last time we heard from Monica was back in 2007 with an album called “The Makings of Me” where she was trying too hard to be contemporary.
We are now in 2010 and Miss Thang has decided to grace us with her beautiful voice on a brand new CD called “Still Standing” out March 23, where she seems to be indifferent to staying current this time around.
Don’t get me wrong the CD is not bad, no one sings about pain, drama, love, cheating and strength like Mo, but at the end of the day the album is plain and lacks that appealing certain something to make it a classic.

Despite having hitmakers such as Ne-Yo, Johnta Austin, Bryan-Michael Cox and Polow da Don, “Still Standing” sounds like it was made for the mid-90s. However there were few standout cuts from the CD that I really enjoyed,the old-school Deniece Williams sampled single, ”Everything to Me”, “Mirror” where she seems to be having a stream of consciousness, the sexually charged “Superman” and of course “Still Standing” which has uplifting words for all of us.

Overall it is not a great CD, but it should do fairly well on the charts thanks to her strong fan base and the hype created by her reality show/personal dramas.
Hopefully she will use her talent to come back and wow us next time with something even better.

According to The New York Observer, Brooklyn rapper Jay-Z is nearing in on a book deal that will include the release of a book on lyrics.

Jay-Z is almost in the final step of the book deal which is being made with Spiegel & Garu, an imprint of Random House.

Matthew Guma, Jay Z’s literary agent, pitched three types of books to publishers including a traditional memoir, a business book, and a book in which Jay-Z gives the back story to his lyrics. Spiegel & Garu are attempting to acquire the book on Jay Z’s lyrics.

If published, the book will become a first for Jay-Z. When The Black Album was released in 2003 their were plans for a book entitled The Black Book to be released as well, but plans to release the book were cancelled by Jay-Z.

As of yet there is no release date for the book and neither Jay-Z or his agent have commented on the deal.

There was another strange and tragic celebrity death as former NFL quarterback Steve McNair was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds. His mistress 20 year-old Sahel Kazemi was also found dead at the Nashville, Tennessee condo. McNair had several bullet wounds, and Kazemi was found with a single shot to the head.

McNair was 36 and played 13 seasons before retiring in April 2008. He was married to Mechelle McNair. and they had four sons. A police spokesman said authorities were still investigating the shootings which they are calling a murder-suicide.

Police officers responded at the scene after receiving a call about injured persons inside the condo. When they arrived at the site, they found a man and woman shot to death inside the residence

After the tragic passing of singer Michael Jackson, Harlem rapper Mase [click to read] has found himself once again inspired to return to the world of Hip Hop.

"Mike passed away and it just lit the fire in me -- it made me go in the studio and do something. I'm excited," Mase told Power 105.1’s DJ Self. "I asked my nephew who is the hottest thing out there and he said, "Drake!' When I listened to his music I said, 'I'm going to jump on this joint.'"

During his appearance on DJ Self’s radio show, which took place on June 26, Mase also aired his remix to Drake’s “Best I Ever Had.” The remix is Mase’s first release in five years.

When asked if his “Best I Ever Had” remix marks his return to music, Mase responded "I've got things up my sleeves, I just need someone to play them." During Mase’s interview, Harlem rapper Jim Jones who has had disagreements with Mase in the past phoned in with his support.

“I tip my hat to you,” said Jim Jones. “This is monumental and it's nothing but love."

In 2005, Mase hinted at joining G-Unit and possibly releasing an album on G-Unit Records in a radio interview with Shade 45’s G-Unit Radio. Needless to say the album was never released.

After speculation that Jay-Z just as thought after The Black Album,might be headed to Atlantic Records, the music mogul has taken his revised imprint, Roc Nation, to Sony. There, Hov will be joining his wife Beyonce, producer friend Rick Rubin, and mild adversary Jim Jones.

According to Billboard, Jay-Z and Roc Nation moved to Sony after securing Atlantic to distribute his eleventh album, Blueprint 3, a project that Jay purchased with his contract from Island Def Jam. At present, that album is slated for September release.

At present, Roc Nation includes J. Cole,as well as management ventures with Melanie Fiona, Wale and reportedly, the lone Roc-A-Fella Records carryover, Young Chris. There is no word yet on Roc Nation's release schedule.

This week I thought "Lets go with The Glenn Twins.
Who wouldn't like to be in the middle with these two, "I know I would".

Heres a little background on these two.
We were born in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky on March 12th. Our Father was in the army and as a result, our family has traveled constantly. We have lived in various places such as Colorado, California, and Germany. Our Dad retired in 1998 in Georgia and we have resided here ever since. We have a relatively large family consisting of our parents and two older sisters. We absolutely loved being army brats because the opportunity to travel gave us exposure to different regions, cultures, and people. This has helped us better adapt to change, new experiences, and has built character.

We regard our education very highly and have both obtained BBAs in accounting, graduating Magna Cum (Debra) and Suma Cum (Joyce) Laude. We excelled academically, primarily funding our education with academic scholarships. We are also members of the prestigious business honor society, Beta Gamma Sigma.

Our modeling career began when we were 16 years old. We were approached by a representative from an agency at a concert in Atlanta. We later signed with that agency and got a few jobs here and there. The more we worked and networked, we found contacts with other agencies and booked more jobs. Currently our focus has expanded to other areas of entertainment including acting and hosting.

Throughout our career we have appeared in several music videos, magazines, calendars, a cosmetic catalogue/commercial, movies and have been involved in several industry promotional events. Breaking into the industry has been more fun and more hard work than we imagined. Although it has been very challenging, having each other has made the load lighter. In the future we aspire to land roles in feature films, television sitcoms, company endorsements, as well as use our business degrees to further the success of our careers.

These two are smart and sexy. Thats a deadly combination.

Bun B Comments On Pimp C Death

In a statement released to HipHopDX through Jive Records, Bun B has commented on the loss of his UGK partner Pimp C. Bun stated, "[Pimp C's] genius was unparalleled. His passion was undeniable and his love was unmatched. To say that I lost a friend or brother would never do justice to the relationship we shared. I will never be the same again."

Next month, UGK would have been together for 20 years; a career spanning over six albums released on Jive, not to mention underground and unauthorized recordings. Earlier this year, through the OutKast-assisted hit single, "International Player's Anthem," the group's first album in over five years, Underground Kingz performed better first week sales than any previous album from the duo, together or separate.

Pimp C Found Dead

Another tragic loss has hit the Hip Hop community today as Pimp C, one half of UGK, was found dead in his hotel room this morning. He was reportedly 35 years old at the time of his death.

Pimp C was an acclaimed producer and rapper from Port Arthur, Texas. With Bun B, as UGK the duo found underground anthems in "I Left It Wet For You," "Feel Like I'm The One Who's Doing Dope," and more recently with Outkast in "International Player's Anthem." Earlier this year, UGK's Underground Kingz achieved chart status previously unseen from the group. As a solo artist, Pimp C also released two albums with Rap-A-Lot Records.

The artist spent the early part of the decade incarcerated for complications do an assault charge. His "Free Pimp C" campaign, spearheaded by Bun B, is remembered for upholding the rapper's visibility despite a three-year prison sentence.

According to TMZ, a 911 call was answered by LA County Fire which led them to the Mondrian Hotel in California. When police arrived they found the Houston rapper dead in his bed.

No word yet as to the cause of his death as this story is still developing.

Sean Taylor Murder Suspects Arrested

Three men were charged Saturday (December 1) with felony first-degree murder in the shooting death of NFL player Sean Taylor. Although police believe the death was unplanned, the charge of felony first-degree murder can be applied if someone is killed, even accidentally, during certain violent felony crimes.

Police have more than one confession in the case, according to Robert Parker, director of the Miami-Dade Police Department.

Court documents state Eric Rivera Jr., 17; Venjah K. Hunte, 20; and Charles Kendrick Lee Wardlow, 18, each face charges of felony first-degree murder, burglary with a firearm and home invasion robbery while armed. Rivera appeared in a courtroom in Fort Myers, Florida, while Hunte and Wardlow appeared via video phone from jail.

A fourth suspect, Jason Scott Mitchell, 19, was processed too late to appear in court, officials said. He is to be in court Sunday, and he faces the same charges as the other three.

"The four men were expecting to find an unoccupied home, so murder or shooting someone was not their initial motive," Parker said.

"They were certainly not looking to go there and kill anyone," he continued. "Their obvious motive was to go there and steal the contents of the house."

"The key to solving this case was citizens' tips,"

Taylor, 24, a safety for the Washington Redskins, died Tuesday, a day after he was shot during an apparent burglary at his Miami home.

Mannie Fresh Sister Found Murdered

Man when being having a tragic month. Mannie Fresh sister Angela Bryant the 41 year old was found
murdered in her home from apparent gun shot wounds.

According to Bryant's mother, Wednesday was her birthday, and the woman had returned home late that evening after a dinner celebration. She had reportedly been married for less than two months, and her husband was en route home at the time of the incident. Bryant is survived by three and seven-year-old children, who were reportedly in the house at the time of the incident. The victim's 1998 Lexus LS 300 was stolen after the murder.

New details have emerged surrounding the death of Kanye West's mother, Dr. Donda West.

Dr. Jan Adams, a California-based plastic surgeon who recently spoke to gossip website TMZ, says he did nothing wrong during Dr. West's surgery and that she may have died of other medical causes.

West's autopsy results will be released in six to eight weeks.

According to the TMZ report, Adams says he gave West a tummy tuck and breast reduction after consulting with her over a four month period of time. Adams says that West changed her mind about the procedures on several occasions, according to the article.

Dr. West, 58, was taken to Centinela Freeman Regional Medical Center in Marina Del Ray Saturday night after she stopped breathing. Once at the hospital, workers attempted to "resuscitate West, but were unsuccessful" according to Deborah Ettinger, a vice president at the hospital.

In another development surrounding West's sudden death, a different plastic surgeon, Dr. Andre Aboolian of Beverly Hills, says West approached him several months ago about the surgery. Aboolian also says that two weeks ago, he told West that she needed a medical clearance before he would perform the operation due to a pre-existing medical condition, according to his publicist Jo-Ann Geffen. "He simply said that in order for him to be comfortable, he felt it necessary to have a medical clearance before he'd touch her," said Geffen.

Adams recently told TMZ that Aboolian was "manipulating the truth" but declined to elaborate. While Adams says the surgery was conducted without a hitch, questions about his past have surfaced. TMZ has unearthed a series of reports that the doctor has been the suit of several complaints, including sexual harassment and malpractice.

Another lawsuit—which was settled—claimed that Dr. Adams, a former co-host of The Other Half got a woman pregnant after an operation. Thanks Hiphopdx.com

They have been using the logo all this time without ever hollering at me...I decided to step away from Cam because dude is selfish."

Digga also touched on the infamous Cam'Ron song "Do It Again" featuring Beyonce. The song was referenced in a diss track by Cam'Ron directed at Jay-Z called "You Gotta Love It." In the song, Cam'Ron brags about having Beyonce in the studio singing about slinging crack in relation to the song's hook which references drug dealing. I must admit this dude is on his heavy grind for whatever he wants.
With this recent purchase of Artful Dodger clothing, you get to thinking
I wonder what he will do next? The deal was settled for $15 million in cash.

The line specializes high-end denim, t-shirts and sweaters, and has een increased popularity over the past two years. Artful Dodger founder and CEO Scott Langton will become part of the Signature Apparel Group (with which Scion will enter into a multi-year licensing deal for the brand) and act as creative director and head designer.

That show is so staged its ashame. New York can act a little when it comes down to reality tv, but
lets face it she is a slut. Lmao, you I said it and I don't give a shit either. The show was better last
season but when I saw they was going to have that pyschic lady on there and they was doing some
sort of blood oath, that shit took the cake. When shit started falling and the lights blacking out, I started laughing
at how fake that show really is.
