Monica Still Standing Album Review – The last time we heard from Monica was back in 2007 with an album called “The Makings of Me” where she was trying too hard to be contemporary.
We are now in 2010 and Miss Thang has decided to grace us with her beautiful voice on a brand new CD called “Still Standing” out March 23, where she seems to be indifferent to staying current this time around.
Don’t get me wrong the CD is not bad, no one sings about pain, drama, love, cheating and strength like Mo, but at the end of the day the album is plain and lacks that appealing certain something to make it a classic.

Despite having hitmakers such as Ne-Yo, Johnta Austin, Bryan-Michael Cox and Polow da Don, “Still Standing” sounds like it was made for the mid-90s. However there were few standout cuts from the CD that I really enjoyed, the old-school Deniece Williams sampled single, ”Everything to Me”, “Mirror” where she seems to be having a stream of consciousness, the sexually charged “Superman” and of course “Still Standing” which has uplifting words for all of us.

Overall it is not a great CD, but it should do fairly well on the charts thanks to her strong fan base and the hype created by her reality show/personal dramas.
Hopefully she will use her talent to come back and wow us next time with something even better.

SHADE 45 Maino Wonders...Can NY Stand UP?? Lip Service

Kanye's dime piece

This is who game is talking about in his new diss track.....game you are such a fucking hater...Give him two months and he'll be begging Kanye to produce for him...kep burning those bridges.....see where this little beef gets you

Is it hunting season for Jay-z?...Got some Fresh Game

Okay... I guess you all know that there is a brewing beef between Hov and game...(Sorry I didn't capitalize your name game.....I honestley don't care that much for you. I guess it all started with Hov's freestyle "Blueprint 3"...... He only said I aint talking about game......hmmm.... does that sound like something shot...nooooooooooo!

Game drops his track loaded with shots titled "I'm so wavy", and with all honesty I believe its a pretty good track..my favorite bar is when he said..."No one on the corner got swagger like you, because no one on the corner is 42"...funny right?

I guess Game is looking for Hov to come out swinging...so this can propel his career. Hov probaly won't respond....why would a shark attack a minow?....crazy right?

Not to mention Hovs other loser friend is crying againg..does the name De'haven sound familiar?....yup hes back crying..someone get dude a fucking bottle or something....

I have the track you be the judge.........

Jay-Z To Possibly Release First Book

According to The New York Observer, Brooklyn rapper Jay-Z is nearing in on a book deal that will include the release of a book on lyrics.

Jay-Z is almost in the final step of the book deal which is being made with Spiegel & Garu, an imprint of Random House.

Matthew Guma, Jay Z’s literary agent, pitched three types of books to publishers including a traditional memoir, a business book, and a book in which Jay-Z gives the back story to his lyrics. Spiegel & Garu are attempting to acquire the book on Jay Z’s lyrics.

If published, the book will become a first for Jay-Z. When The Black Album was released in 2003 their were plans for a book entitled The Black Book to be released as well, but plans to release the book were cancelled by Jay-Z.

As of yet there is no release date for the book and neither Jay-Z or his agent have commented on the deal.

Jordan Hallowed Ground

The Foot Locker exclusive Jordan Hallowed Ground, first hitting stores in October in blk/red, is followed up by this wht/blk/red in November. The upper is mainly white, bordered in black, with red Jordan brand elements like the Jumpman, 23, and reversible Jordan logo on the tongue which is legible upside down and right side up. The upper is a combination of white full grain leather and patent, with an outer-most layer of black nubuck. The lace-loops, shape of the midsole, and outsole are reminiscent of the Jordan X

Drake: Best I Ever Had...New Video

Michael Jackson’s Passing Inspires Mase’s Return To Music

After the tragic passing of singer Michael Jackson, Harlem rapper Mase [click to read] has found himself once again inspired to return to the world of Hip Hop.

"Mike passed away and it just lit the fire in me -- it made me go in the studio and do something. I'm excited," Mase told Power 105.1’s DJ Self. "I asked my nephew who is the hottest thing out there and he said, "Drake!' When I listened to his music I said, 'I'm going to jump on this joint.'"

During his appearance on DJ Self’s radio show, which took place on June 26, Mase also aired his remix to Drake’s “Best I Ever Had.” The remix is Mase’s first release in five years.

When asked if his “Best I Ever Had” remix marks his return to music, Mase responded "I've got things up my sleeves, I just need someone to play them." During Mase’s interview, Harlem rapper Jim Jones who has had disagreements with Mase in the past phoned in with his support.

“I tip my hat to you,” said Jim Jones. “This is monumental and it's nothing but love."

In 2005, Mase hinted at joining G-Unit and possibly releasing an album on G-Unit Records in a radio interview with Shade 45’s G-Unit Radio. Needless to say the album was never released.
